Stage 03
When Monitoring Is the Appropriate Strategy
This is the pathway from which PASS itself was born.
PASS Active Surveillance is for the man who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer and whose clinical team has determined, after appropriate assessment and discussion, that Active Surveillance is a suitable management strategy.
This pathway supports the individual in understanding and participating in his surveillance programme. That may include PSA testing, MRI, repeat biopsy where indicated, consultations, record keeping, psychological well-being, healthy living, and preparation for decisions that may arise over time.
The purpose is not to watch prostate cancer obsessively. It is to remain appropriately vigilant while continuing to live.
